PDQ Rocket (2025)
PDQ is a rocket-fueled launch system for IT devices, allowing companies to blast through software deployment and patching, and streamline system admin tasks with ease. So when they came to Playwell Bricks looking for a custom set for an employee gift, it was no surprise that they wanted a rocket ship. Not a slick, buildable rocket that NASA might make, but a fun, pop version one.

I designed the rocket to their specifications, incorporating their brand colours. Petrus Gartier expertly applied the sticker to the files and renders using Studio Part Designer.

Impressed by the custom Playwell Bricks set the team created for Newtown Macon’s Bibb Theatre, one of the Newtown Macon team members reached out to see if we could design a little something extra. After witnessing their coworker’s glee over the custom Bibb Theatre set, they wondered if Playwell Bricks could create a custom set of their house.

In the past, when I've worked from reference images from a client, or for a personal build, it is easy to line up the scale and proportion in Bricklink Studio, but i found the angle and perspective of the reference images challenging to work with here, given the small scale of the building!

"The Bibb Theatre: A distinct local fixture on Macon’s Third Street. Though always present, this architectural gem has gone largely overlooked for many years. However, NewTown Macon owns the building and has stabilized it to save it from the possibility of demolition. "

I got to design and instruction this model of the Macon theatre from Macon, Georgia, with the @playwell_bricks team. It was great fun and I learned a ton about architectural building and resource management!
The feature I am most proud of are the street lamps on the side wall. They use robot arms to get the right shape.
The sticker which reads 'Downtown Macon is Literally the Greatest' comes from our graphic designers Marc Andre and Kostik Poloskin. I had to learn how to use Part Designer in Bricklink Studio to create a part we could use as inventory.

Not every project goes well. I like a challenge, but sometimes I am ready to admit when I've bitten off more than I can chew. I had loads of fun trying to model this bride for a private commission, but when I tried certain details on the groom, he ended up being out of proportion, and just not looking right! Luckily, Kostik Poloskin from Playwell Bricks graciously stepped in to help.
On the right is my version. While i'm pleased with the new skills i've obtained, I would like to give this kind of designing another go in future, once my skills have improved.

Last year I had the privilege of designing this little fella for a project with the Playwell Bricks team, a 'superhero' mascot for the telecommunications company Proximus.

This was the first design I worked on with the company. Our team member Luka Inaudi created a concept sketch which I then had to interpret with LEGO bricks, in CAD software Bricklink Studio.
The main challenge was balancing form with function. The joints needed to be strong enough for the figure to be freestanding, but I had to incorporate details from the It was a really fun and exciting project, one which the whole team collaborated on to create a fantastic result!

A client reached out to me, asking if I could design, build and glue a vase big and tall enough to hold the Botanicals set. I came up with a few sketches based on their brief, and the one they liked the most was a scaled-up LEGO 2 x 4 brick! They also loved my idea of incorporating kintsugi inspired cracks. Kintsugi is the japanese practise of replacing pottery cracks with a gold lacquer, illustrating that imperfections can be beautiful.

The Southampton Game Jam asked me to make a model of their logo. It was intended as a trophy for the winning team to hold each year. I partnered with UK based brick printing supplier Fab Bricks for the lettering, they did an excellent job! Here is a switch controller for scale. This was the first time I've ever used Bricklink Studio, ensuring my client was satisfied with the design before the next phase.

'Walter' the Water Vole was designed in-house by the team at Bright Bricks, now called Iconic Bricks, headed by Lego Certified Professional Duncan Titmarsh. He is made from around 35,000 LEGO bricks and he stands just over a meter tall! Myself and Marek Jerie built him over the course of 2 weeks. The build taught me a lot about structural engineering, and how LEGO bricks behave at larger scales and under extreme amounts of stress.
